Welcome to the Cox Green Scout Group, we hope your son or daughter will have a long and happy time as they progress through the various sections.
The Scout Group Started in the early 50’s and our home was St Georges Hall in Larchfield Road. We were registered as the 21st Maidenhead. During 1967 we moved to our present location, into a used RAF hut which the group purchased and erected. A large proportion of the boys then came from the Cox Green area, so in 1974 it was thought appropriate to add 1st Cox Green to our name. Nowadays, most people know us as Cox Green Scout Group.
From those Early beginnings the Group has expanded to included a Beaver pack, 2 Cub packs, a Scout Troop and an Explorer unit. Information on each of these sections can be found on the web site. The members of all sections pay subscriptions towards the running of the Group, which is a registered charity. Subscriptions are now collected by standing order and families are asked to sign up for gift AID (for more information on this please get in contact with the group GSL).
Additional money is required to finance a variety of other activities in the sections, one large purchase and made in the recent past was that of the new scout hut which received funding from a lottery grants and from fundraising events such as yearly summer fairs and jumble sales. The new hut was built in 1997 after building regulations were granted in 1996.
The group need your family’s participation and involvement to continue to provide excellent scouting in Cox Green.
